F1R/C Club - Indian GP 2012
28 October 2012 - Another big turnout of 19 racers for a nice Sunday afternoon of radio control F1 car racing. Fastest F1 dyno competition, halloween masks, kids and more. Photos, video, race commentary and results.
What makes my day is to see young kids playing and enjoying.
A big welcome to Mr. JP Reyes. Last played with an f1 car way back in 2008. But showed us his speed by qualifying 2nd overall with his Tamiya F104 ver. II.
Before racing started, a fastest rc car on the chassis dyno contest. This is to give recognition to the mechanics who build the best and fastest Formula One rc cars for their drivers.
Here is a quick video of the dyno testing.
Congratulations to Vin Diaz for winning the contest.
Team FGX Rains and Ike.
Team CV Chito, Vin and Miles.
"There must be more to rc racing than going around a track for 5 minutes" said our club founder Allan Colico. Here he is driving with an alien mask in the spirit of the Halloween season. All about having fun.
Video Highlight of the Event
Qualifying was a tight affair with only 12 cars to make the A-main. No surprise with Taka taking TQ. JP Reyes making his debut race by taking 2nd on the grid. Nice to see the top 5 are 180mm narrow cars.
The B-main went down to the third race to determine the winner. Good to see kids racing. Welcome back Kenichi and Dan. Congrats to the winners.
1rst - Porsha Mangilit
2nd - Roldan Cortez
3rd - Ike Del Castillo
In the spirit of halloween. A tough field with very fast drivers. Taka did his usual domination, winning the first two races. JP Reyes was very fast, but let down by the plastic motor mount of his F104v2. Joel (me) joining the race to have fun as well.
India GP 2012 Podium - Jygs Tiangco (2nd), Yuichiro Takaya (Winner), Joel Mangilit (3rd). Congratulations!
Post race Interview
Q: Taka you did not have the fastest motor, but still dominated the race. How did you do it?
Taka: Yes my motor was not so good. But I think my braking going into the corner is very good and that is where a make up a lot of time. I spend a lot of time setting up the right braking power on my car.
Q: Jygs two races in a row on the podium.
Jygs: I had fever, but the racing made me forget about it. Very happy to finish 2nd.
Q: Joel you finally joined a race. How was it?
Joel: Hectic as I am juggling between being the race organizer, mechanic to me and my daughter's car and then racing. Very surprised at how fast F1 silvercan is going and the level of all drivers even to the B-main. Very rusty in my driving and was just lucky to even get third on the podium. But all worth it as it was another fun day hopefully for everyone.

An enjoyable day for me as organizer and hope all 19 racers had a good time. It's not only about racing, it's about seeing friends and enjoying the Sunday afternoon. Music, eating, dancing, talking and racing.
See you Nov 18 for the USA Grand Prix.
